I'm really intrigued to become more efficient in the mountains based on this attempt. I could listen peacefully to nature and subject my mind to growing figments of my imagination. So its how long can you keep moving? I tried to move one foot in front of the other robotically, but even trying to distance myself from the sustained effort of a tired mind driving a worn-out body did not work for long. But I had somehow never done the Colorado Trail. With the issues I was having at altitude, I vowed to sleep below 11,000’. It was indeed mindless. Day 2 was supposed to be a day of stacking miles on an already solid base of day 1.
